They are typically placed near the coil so that a large percentage of the air that passes through gets exposed. This positioning also helps to keep important elements of your air system disinfected. The lamps stay on constantly, even when the HVAC system isn’t up and running. UV lamps can be retrofitted to an old system or installed along in a new one.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has long noticed the beneficial effects of UV lights. They even suggest they be used in hospitals so that dangerous diseases don’t get transmitted between patients and staff. Microchip manufacturers that require extremely sterile environments also utilize them.
